Free Prescription Drug Programs – Who Knew?

This is more a public service announcement than anything. If you know of others who could take advantage, please feel free to share this blog.

The Trillium Drug Program

The Trillium Drug Program helps Ontarians pay for their high prescription-drug costs. If you or someone you know do not have an insurance plan that pays for 100% of your drugs and you spend 4% or more of your after-tax household income on prescription drugs you could be eligible.

The Trillium Drug Program covers the cost of more than 4,400 prescription drugs that is currently available through the Ontario Drug Benefit program and pays a maximum annual benefit of up to $110,000. Learn more about the program here

Does your current employee benefits program cover only generic drugs but not brand names? Or if you don’t have benefits do you only get generic drugs to save costs? If either of these is the case you should likely get the InnoviCares card.

The InnoviCares card is a free prescription savings card available to all Canadians and is funded by participating pharmaceutical manufacturers. Present your InnoviCares card at your pharmacy and ask for the brand-name medication. As long as it’s on the list of pharmaceutical manufacturers on the InnoviCares website your card will automatically cover the additional cost of the original brand.

Your InnoviCares card can coordinate with your existing insurance plan(s), or if you don’t have insurance, it can be used on its own.

You can easily download a card to get started. Click here to see the website

We hope you or someone you know can take advantage of either or both of these free programs.
