Cut Yourself some Slack

By Alexander Hutchison

November was Financial Literacy Month. For many, the realm of personal finance may as well be written in ancient Egyptian. That is why people like us exist. We are here to help guide you and help plan for your future.

It can be overwhelming at times, but it is important to remember we (as in humans) haven’t been doing this money thing that long.

The New York Stock Exchange is 203 years old just like the Bank of Montreal, Canada’s oldest bank.

The Toronto Stock Exchange was founded in 1852.

Credit cards started in the 1950s.

RRSPs started in 1957.

The first ETF came to market in 1993.

Jim Flaherty created the TFSA in 2009.

We as a society are very new to the saving for retirement thing, even the concept of retirement is relatively new. So cut yourself some slack if it’s not going perfectly. The important thing is that you are learning and trying to do your best, as we all are. If you have questions or want some advice please don’t hesitate to connect with us.
